Chemical Equilibrium PTSD @stem._.ptsd
I did my chemical equilibrium project on PTSD. Chemical equilibrium is the balance of a specific equation. We also addressed PTSD pertaining to Le Châtelier's principle. In chemistry, Le Châtelier's principle, also called Chatelier's principle or "The Equilibrium Law", can be used to predict the effect of a change in conditions on a chemical equilibrium. For PTSD, the equation is...
Brain after trauma + triggering stimuli-> Chemically unbalanced brain (Symptom) |
I enjoyed this project. Having already been interested in how the brain is chemically affected by PTSD this project suited me very well. I thoroughly researched my topic and the chemistry involved. I decided to make an Instagram page to reach my audience. This was a good way to educate everyone (especially teens) because they are always on their phones. I quickly got 50+ followers. I found however, that it was difficult to determine whether my 50+ followers were viewing my info graphics because each post inly got a few likes. Next time, I might try a different social media platform and see how that affects my exposure to the population.

I also enjoyed the ability to expand my knowledge on the chemical aspects of PTSD. PTSD is a topic that I have researched in other classes and am truly interested in. I had previously researched the emotional aspects of this disorder but learning how it chemically affects the brain allowed me to further grasp the severity of the whole disorder. I greatly enjoyed this research because I would love to, one day, work on a research team that develops cures for disorders and diseases in the brain. this project helped open my eyes and allowed me to realize that I really enjoy this branch of science and a possible career in it.
