I am on the Marin Pirates Swim Team. I will soon be swimming for San Marin. I love butterfly and the I.M and would love to swim for the rest of my life. This year is my tenth year swimming. I started out on the Stingrays, a summer league team. After eight years, I out grew the .Stingrays and needed to move up. I joined the Marin Pirates, an USA swim team. I am now part of a swimming organization that includes the best, such as Missy Franklin and Michael Phelps.
Swim-a-thon update
I participated in the swim-a-thon this weekend. We began the day with a two hour swim. The goal was to swim either 200 laps or for two hours, which ever cam first. I finished my 200 laps in one hour and 20 minutes. Then, we had an hour or two of a pancake breakfast and waterslide fun! We also had a raffle and a presentation by the Olympic swimmer, Scott Weltz. He taught us some new drills for all of the strokes but mainly focused on his best, breaststroke. Since I need to improve my breaststroke, I worked hard to listen to Scott's tips for a better breaststroke.
Seattle, Washington Swim Meet
This January, I had the opportunity to attend the Washington Open swim meet in Seattle, Washington with my team. We left on a Thursday and we all flew on the same plane. I enjoyed the team spirit as we all sat at our gate in our team jackets. When we arrived, we immediately went to the pool to warm up. Some of my friends were already there because they had distance events that day.
After warm up, we went to the hotel and ate food and shaved our entire bodies. We shave to minimize the drag and to sensitize our skin to the water. We also wear tech suits. Most of the suits for the girls go down to our knees. as you can imagine, wearing one of those for 6-10 hours for two or three days can get a bit uncomfortable. We had a fun evening of running around and eating before it was lights out.
The next day we woke up and had our team meeting during breakfast. During the van ride over to the pool we pumped ourselves up by listening to current pop songs on full blast. We warmed up and did our first team cheer of the meet.

Marin Pirates Swim-A-Thon
This year I will be participating in my swim team's fourth annual swim-a-thon. Our goal is to raise $25,000. My personal goal is to raise $200! Please help me reach my goal!
Hi Friends and Family,
I have been a swimmer for a while now and I often get asked how can you swim back and forth, endlessly, staring at the black line at the bottom of the pool? Truth is, I really don't have a great answer.
What I can tell you is that I am in awesome shape. Most people I know can hardly swim a single lap of a pool. I am VERY proud of my accomplishments! In the end, I know that swimming is making me a better person. More capable. More confident. More everything. I can't imagine not swimming for my team. I have great lane mates and love training and racing. I just love swimming!
All said, the reason you're reading this is my swim team is running a fundraising event called a Swim-A-Thon to raise critical money that will be used to benefit all of our team. We will give it our best effort to swim for 2 hours or up to 200 lengths of the pool, which ever comes first.
Donating is really simple. Just click the red link below and fill-in the information on my swim team's website. Any amount is greatly appreciated. Thank you for supporting me!
